Nathalie is shorter and less funny than she thinks she is, and would like to be better at crosswords. She lives in a world of beer, rage and socks.
- at 14:31 on 26-07-2009 link ...by this one, I mean this one, or, how to sell a book nowadays.
- at 14:31 on 26-07-2009 link (Thanks to Gina Dhawa for this one)
- at 19:34 on 10-03-2009 link @Kyra, re Yeats: I could get behind that. ;) I was very proud t'other week of Gina asking if the books on my bedside table were intended as a shag-pile when they were actually what I was reading...!
- at 08:05 on 20-02-2009 link That's true - although because it's the Catholic Church I did expect it to have some links to historical views of women because let's face it, they are from the past. Although when I actually read the article it appears to be based on what things people confessed to. Though I'm fairly sure that people not only make things up but are selective about what they confess to as well (I know this from my mother!).
- at 23:03 on 19-02-2009 link That's interesting in as how it bears no relation to the emotions that most people relate to different genders - for example, pride and anger are generally considered to be "masculine" when people are asked to gender code-emotion. I'm reading a very interesting book called Emotion and Gender (I forget the authors but it's published by CUP and is basically a sociology text), and one of the points made is that the gender-coding of emotions is actually very closely related to power: historically, men...
- at 22:28 on 24-12-2008 link @Rami: The Pope can't really talk about 'gender confusion' when he's wearing a fucking dress!
- at 21:57 on 12-12-2008 link Hm okay, I might give it a whirl then...I couldn't decide whether it was craptacular or just plain crap!
- at 15:24 on 12-12-2008 link @Kyra, re the fantasy novels thing, I'm not sure I can follow that. Did anyone ever see Hex when it was on telly? It's truly gobshite, and I wasn't going to suffer through all of it but I think there might be a good FerretBrain article there. I've seen Star Wars The Musical before actually; it's worth checking out Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and Prop 8 The Musical if you haven't seen them, for things that are actually pretty good.
- at 15:45 on 03-12-2008 link Yes, I finally made it here after...two years. Fail, me! You should come along if you can be arsed to head down to London - I don't know what day it's going to be yet but I will let you know. We are all going "for the lols", as I believe a great poet said once.
- at 14:42 on 03-12-2008 link Kyra: some friends and I plan to load ourselves up with body glitter and go see the film. If I can be bothered I might even write an article on it! Like you I'm very addicted to Robert Pattinson's frequent foot-in-mouth episodes but can't even be bothered to finish reading the first book...
