Comments on Arthur B's The Reading Canary: The Eisenhorn Trilogy

Arthur reviews a trilogy of Warhammer 40,000 tie-in novels. Stop sniggering, it's actually quite good.

I have a guilty affection for the Black Library, and really enjoyed Eisenhorn personally. Have you read the Ravenor novels? I think Abnett refines his characters a little more in those, although I've only read 2 of the 3.

I haven't read Ravenor, but I want to. On the other hand, I may wait a bit to see if they put out a compilation before paying full price for them.

Interesting review of something in which I have no interest =P I've never really "got" tie-in fiction although these seem reasonably effective. Also since I am a Warhammer Widow I feel bitter about the whole business anyway :)

Tie-in fiction is kind of like fan fiction, only the author is constrained in how many liberties they can take with the canon. Whether this is a good thing depends, on I suppose, on your attitude to extracanonical sex scenes.
