You know, you could do much the same thing with Best Crime/Thriller novels...

3: Wuthering Heights
Isolated moors, sightings of ghosts, and the outrageous behaviour of brooding landlord Heathcliff inspires roving sleuth Mr Lockwood to investigate the mystery that blighted a family.

2: Les Miserables.
Wanted fugitive Jean Valjean has been living under an assumed identity for years when he becomes embroiled with a widespread political conspiracy. Can the intrepid inspector Javert unravel the plot in time?

1: 1984.
Seduced by the dazzling femme fatale Julia, Winston Smith is a man rapidly spinning out of control; millions would denounce him instantly, but Ministry of Love official O'Brien believes that Smith can be redeemed. Can O'Brien reach Smith and end his terrifying crime spree?

Same with top romantic films!
3. Misery - They say love is never having to say you're sorry: Cathy Bates shows us the true meaning of the word when she cares lovingly for her damaged hero, and helps him stay true to himself and his work.

2. Star Wars - the star-crossed (geddit?) lovers Luke and Leia meet and begin to feel their throbbing biological urges. Can't wait to see them get it on in the sequel!

1. Ichi the Killer - See the devilishly well-dressed Kakihara realise his growing love for his perfect partner, the boy who just can't keep his love from violently bursting forth, Ichi!

I'm glad to have amused. And tee hee - these suggestions are great - I do like Misery (which I should have thought of myself1). Actually Edgar Allen Poe might prove a rich vien. The Black Cat: The hero of this story is about to learn that the course of true love never runs smoothly. Will he learn to accept his wife's pet or will he end up murdering her with an axe!

How can we miss the obvious Poe offering, The Telltale Heart? Moved to an act of furious passion by the captivating gaze of an older man, our narrator has done his (her? It's unspecified...) level best to put aside any trace of the relationship... but finds out that love still beats in that old heart yet!

Ahaha - I did actually think of that but I though it was just too cheap. Guess I was wrong ;)
